1st Draft...Finally Complete!

The time has finally arrived!

This week has been tremendously tiring and stressful, and although it's only a first draft, I feel happy and content :)

Last night I got home around 7:30. Showered, ate dinner, took a 30 minute nap, and then when my dad kindly purchased me a Full Throttle energy drink from the gas station...I suddenly woke up and began to write.

So this morning I woke up with a positive attitude.

I'm glad I got a lot accomplished today. And this weekend I'm on a mission to find some great pictures of sugar cane!

But, it is time to go now.
Have a wonderful weekend, go to the beach...we do live in sunny Florida!

20 minutes to go...

It's almost that time of the day...time to leave and go back home for the night. Yes, I feel tired and stressed out, but I also feel some sort of happiness deep down in my little heart.

Being at the Everglades this morning was definitely a great experience and the rest of the day seemed to go by quickly. Mind you, I was researching my topic, then interviewing, then researching some more, and back to the interviewing.

I managed to type out some of my notes and at least feel a bit accomplished (for the time being.)

Well my hand is beginning to feel just a tad bit tired, so I'll get back to you tomorrow.

Adventure to the Everglades

Little did I know that the Everglades were just a few minutes from my home. After a 5 minute drive down Loxahatchee Rd, I saw the beautiful everglades in the morning sun.

I jumped out the car eager to take pictures and familiarize myself with the area.

Suddenly I saw an aligator bop his head out of the water. I was intrigued by this, although did not get too close!

The focus of my story is how sugar waste is affecting the everglades in Florida. I was lucky enough to meet some local vendors, and fisherman/hunters to get their perspective on this environmental issue.

But, I better stop blabing on and get back to work!

A Recap of My First Fun-Filled Day at UJW

Waking up at 6:30 in the morning definitely wasn't fun. But, I soon came to find out that it was well worth it.

Although I walked into FIU'S Academic II building feeling very nervous, I had nothing to worry about because everyone else was feeling the same. As everyone began to introduce themselves, we all realized we had at least one thing in common: our passion for journalism...

The coolest thing ever was receiving a lanyard with our name tag, and then the most valuable item - the dining card! We were all so excited that we were allowed to eat at the cafeteria for free, and for the next two weeks!

After listening to a few lectures, I knew right away that THIS is what I wanted to do...I WANT TO BE A JOURNALIST!

So I can promise you one thing...I am going to give this workshop all I've got. I might not be the best blogger yet, but just wait and see. I may surprise you :)
